Prof David Mackey is currently the Managing Director of the Lions Eye Institute and Professor and Director of the Centre for Ophthalmology and Visual Science at the University of Western Australia. In addition to his major focus of glaucoma genetics, he also conducts research into the genetics of optic atrophy, retinal diseases, strabismus, ptosis, corneal diseases and cataract.

Dr Seyhan Yazar (NHMRC Fellow)
Seyhan is a Research Fellow within the Lions Eye Institute. In her thesis, she investigated the genetic and environmental influences on ocular disease development and progression with a particular interest in myopia, corneal dystrophies and glaucoma through exploring datasets from large population-based studies. Her current research interest is to gain experience in computer programming, statistics, engineering sequence analysis pipelines and apply these skills to perform well-validated and reproducible computational eye research.

Dr DeRoach is the Principal Medical Physicist for Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital, Western Australia, and is the Chief Investigator for the Australian Inherited Retinal Disease Register (IRD) and DNA Bank. He has been involved with the IRD register since its inception in 1984, and with the DNA bank since its inception in 2001.

She has been involved with the IRD register and DNA bank since their inception. She is the principal contact for matters relating to phenotypic issues, particularly in the area of visual electrophysiology.
